Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
According to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 4th Edition, by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas, “The authors are quite befuddled by varying information surrounding the introduction of this model. It’s not confusing enough that the first introduction of this model is a dash two (-2) model designation. Early variations will be found marked both “Model of 1988” and “Model of 1989”, this despite the fact that some information indicates 1989 introduction.” This Smith & Wesson 625-2 revolver is marked “Model of 1988” that features the early 5” barrel with the early Pachmayr Gripper grips and the ‘dash 2’ designation. This example would make a perfect choice for Smith & Wesson collector's.
