Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Officer's Model, also known as Colt Officer's ACP, is a semi-automatic, magazine-fed handgun based on the M1911 designed by John M. Browning. It was created in response to numerous aftermarket companies making smaller versions of the M1911 pistol. In 1985, Colt developed their own version and named it the "Colt Officer's ACP." The following year, they introduced a lighter version with an aluminum frame called the Lightweight Officer's ACP, which weighed 10 ounces less than the original (24 ounces). The main differences between a full-sized M1911 and the Officer's ACP are 6-round magazines instead of 7-round, 7 1/8" overall length instead of 8 1/2", 5 1/8" height instead of 5 1/2", 34-oz instead of 39-oz, and most characteristically, a 3 1/2" barrel instead of 5".
