Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 16-4 is a finely crafted revolver that marked the reintroduction of the Model 16 line in the late 1980s, chambered in the then-new .32 H&R Magnum cartridge. Produced from 1989 to 1992, the Model 16-4 was built on Smith & Wesson’s robust K-frame, specifically the square butt target variant, and was offered in limited numbers—only about 8,800 units were produced across all barrel lengths (4", 6", and 8 3/8"). The 16-4 features a 4-inch full-lug ribbed barrel, enhancing both balance and recoil control, and comes dressed in a deep blued finish that highlights the revolver’s classic lines and craftsmanship.

This particular example is equipped with a pinned 1/8" Patridge front sight paired with a fully adjustable micrometer-click rear sight, providing a precise sight picture ideal for target work or field use. The double/single-action trigger system offers versatility for both defensive shooting and deliberate target work, and this 4" variant comes with a .375" semi-target hammer and a .312" smooth combat trigger, offering a clean, consistent pull. Its Goncalo Alves combat-style grips, finger-grooved and adorned with Smith & Wesson medallions, offer an elegant and functional grip, balancing traditional styling with a secure shooting hold. The six-shot fluted cylinder and attention to detail in features like the 10-groove serrated backstrap and forestrap further set the 16-4 apart as a premium revolver. With limited production and exceptional build quality, the Model 16-4 has become a highly desirable piece among S&W collectors and revolver enthusiasts alike.
