Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Beretta Cheetah, also known as the "Series 81" or "80 Series," is a line of compact semi-automatic pistols designed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. It was first introduced in 1976 and is available in three different calibers: .32 ACP (Models 81 and 82), .380 ACP (9 mm Short) (Models 83, 84, 85, 86, and 80X), and .22 LR (Models 87, 87 Target, and 89).
The 83, 84, and 85 models are chambered for the .380 ACP (9 mm Short) cartridge. The 84 has a double-stacked magazine with a capacity of 13 rounds, while the 83 and 85 have a single-stacked magazine with a capacity of seven and eight rounds, respectively. This results in thinner grips. The 84 and 85 have a 3.81" barrel, while the 83 has a 4" barrel. The "combat" trigger guard with a squared-off front that allows for a finger hold, plastic grips, a proprietary "Bruniton" finish, a chrome-plated barrel and chamber, and a combination safety and decocker lever was introduced in the F versions of models 81, 82, 84, and 85.
The Beretta 85F Cheetah is a part of Beretta’s Series 80 line of pistols, which includes multiple calibers from .22 lr (models 87, 89) to .32 ACP (models 81, 82) and .380 ACP (Models 83, 84, 85, 86). All are unique in their own ways besides their caliber, with different barrel lengths plus single and double-stacked magazines. Beretta began making the Beretta 85F Cheetah in 1976. It was designed for shooters with smaller hands and was more suited to the reduced grip radius of a single stack weapon, who didn’t want a subcompact. Its .380 caliber gives better ballistic performance than the .32 ACP, and the frame is made of an aluminum alloy to save weight. They definitely had the concealed carry market in mind. If you’re a fan of the Beretta 92F and want a smaller version, the Beretta 85F Cheetah could be the gun for you!
