The above-noted edition commemorates the introduction of the Colt All-American Model 2000, an all-double-action semi-automatic pistol, to Colt's product line. Each All-American in this edition features an aluminum alloy receiver, carbon steel slide, and barrel. The left side of the slide carries the special roll mark "COLT ALL AMERICAN, -First Edition-" with the Rampant Colt to the right of the inscription. The right side of the slide is roll marked "Model 2000, -9mm-". In addition, each pistol is packaged in a custom-molded carrying case, which is embellished with a unique First Edition decal. This edition also utilizes the collectible serial number range RK00001 through RK03000. The "RK" prefix is a tribute to the designer of the All-American Model 2000, Reed Knight.

The Colt All-American Model 2000 First Edition represents Colt’s ambitious but short-lived effort to introduce a new generation of double-action, semi-automatic pistol technology in the early 1990s. Chambered in 9mm Parabellum and built on a lightweight aluminum frame, the pistol features a 4½-inch barrel, a 15-round high-capacity magazine, and a white three-dot sighting system intended to emphasize rapid target acquisition and modern ergonomics. This First Edition example is especially significant, bearing the “RK” serial number prefix honoring designer Reed Knight, with serial number RK00002—making it the second pistol produced in the commemorative run of the first 3,000 guns. Despite weighing only 33 ounces and offering excellent balance, natural pointing characteristics, and a refined grip feel, the Model 2000 ultimately proved too complex and costly for Colt to manufacture consistently. Produced only from 1991 to 1993, the project was discontinued when Colt returned the design and tooling to Reed Knight, ending what was meant to be a forward-looking platform for the company. As a result, unaltered examples in original condition are scarce today, and early First Edition pistols with low RK-prefix serial numbers are particularly desirable to collectors as tangible artifacts of Colt’s experimental push into late-20th-century handgun innovation.
