Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Ruger P-series pistols represent a robust line of short recoil-operated, locked-breech semi-automatic handguns utilizing a SIG P220-type locking system and an M1911-style tilting barrel mechanism. Available in traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) or double-action-only (DAO) configurations, these pistols offer versatile trigger options to suit different preferences. Standard models feature an ambidextrous manual safety/decocker on the slide, disengaging the firing pin and decocking the hammer when engaged. Decocker models forego the manual safety, simply decocking the hammer and returning the firing pin to its ready position upon release. DAO models lack both manual safety and decocker mechanisms, emphasizing simplicity and reliability.

All variants incorporate an automatic firing pin safety, preventing accidental discharge unless the trigger is fully pulled. Constructed with investment-cast parts and proprietary Ruger alloys, internal components are primarily stainless steel, with carbon steel slide and ejector. Frame materials vary; early models use investment-cast aluminum, while later versions adopt a fiberglass-reinforced polyurethane frame. Magazine capacities range from 7 to 15 rounds, depending on caliber, with 9mm and .40 S&W versions utilizing double-column box magazines while .45 ACP versions employ single-column magazines. The pistols include an ambidextrous magazine release and are compatible with P-series magazines, although compatibility may vary across models due to slight design modifications. Sights vary from fixed three-dot sights on early P95 models to adjustable ones on newer P95, P97, and P345 models, providing flexibility for accuracy adjustments.

The Ruger P90 is a larger iteration of the P89, designed for .45 ACP and featuring an investment-cast aluminum alloy frame. Launched in 1991, it marked Ruger's inaugural entry into the .45 ACP pistol market, positioning itself in direct rivalry with SIG Sauer's P220, Smith & Wesson's 4500 series, and, to a lesser extent, Glock's G21, released concurrently. Recognized for its commendable accuracy relative to its cost, the P90 remained in production until 2010.

Note: this example is not functioning correctly due to the hammer not being cocked in double-action mode, and we recommend that a local gunsmith inspect this example before use. This example will ship with one magazine.
