Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Paterson reproductions began to appear in the early to mid-1960s, marked with MOFRA and the Double Diamond of Euromanufacture, indicating they were made by MOFRA di Mainardi A for Euromanufacture and imported by Replica Arms. The first Pietta-marked Paterson, produced for Navy Arms in 1969, is notable for its 7 ½” barrel, a rare configuration as most Pietta Patersons feature 9” barrels and lack a loading lever. Uberti started manufacturing Paterson revolvers in 1988, offering both models with and without loading levers and 7 ½” barrels. The Patersons with loading levers had round-back cylinders, while those without had square-back cylinders. Production by Uberti ceased around 2008, but some models might still be found in old dealer inventories. Cimarron Firearms later offered the Paterson with a loading lever in three finishes: antique, charcoal blue, and standard blue, with the charcoal blue finish closely resembling 19th-century heat charcoal bluing. The Uberti Patersons, praised by experts for their historical accuracy, are relatively rare and highly valued by collectors.
