Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Officer's Model or Colt Officer's ACP is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, and recoil-operated handgun based on the John M. Browning-designed M1911. It was introduced in 1985 as a response from Colt to numerous aftermarket companies making smaller versions of the M1911 pistol. In 1985, Colt developed their own in-house version and named it the "Colt Officer's ACP". The following year, they introduced a lighter version with an aluminum frame known as the Lightweight Officer's ACP, which weighed 10 ounces less (24 ounces). The main differences from a full-sized M1911 are 6-round magazines, not 7-round, 7 1/8" overall length, not 8 1/2", 5 1/8" height, not 5 1/2", 34-oz, not 39-oz, and most characteristically, 3 1/2" barrel, not 5".

Since its founding in 1986, Chip McCormick Custom has been the manufacturer of the World Famous Chip McCormick Shooting Star 1911 pistol magazines. The goal of Chip McCormick Custom products is to be the preferred source of high-quality and innovative practical firearms accessories for shooters of all skill levels. Most people know Michael “Chip” McCormick for his industry-leading 1911 magazines, but few are aware McCormick was responsible for many other innovations that transformed the gun world. An intensely private man, he quietly invented many things we take for granted today. He took the drive that pushed him to two World Speed Championships and focused it on inventing and manufacturing.

Based on our research, the McCormick Colts features parts designed by Chip McCormick that were built by Colt Custom Shop for Lew Horton. Some features include a hard chrome finish, Videki trigger, and extended thumb safety, extended slide stop, and McCormick precision-made hammer and ear resulting in a crisp trigger. These pistols also feature the McCormick "Shooting Star" extra capacity magazines. McCormicks high-tech components are known for their extreme tolerances, high-grade materials, and longevity. There were three variations, with 500 of each variation produced. The variations were the "McCormick Officer" Colt Officers ACP that held the serial prefix "MFS", the "McCormick Commander" Colt Combat Commander that held the serial prefix "MFC", and the "McCormick Factory Racer" Colt Government Model that had the serial prefix "MFR".
