Exclusively distributed by Lew Horton Distributing Co., the Shorty Forty was a highly anticipated series of limited-edition models, carefully crafted in collaboration with Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center. These pistols were released in three separate production runs, each comprising only 500 units, making them rare and highly sought-after collector items. These production runs took place in 1992, 1993, and 1995, with each year’s release showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality, precision, and innovation.

The Smith & Wesson Performance Center "Shorty Forty" is a rare and highly specialized compact semi-automatic pistol, designed for superior performance, reliability, and concealability. Chambered in .40 S&W, it features a lightweight aluminum alloy frame and a carbon steel slide, weighing approximately 27 ounces. Handcrafted by the Smith & Wesson Performance Center, the Shorty Forty includes high-end features such as oversized slide rails for improved fit and function, a bobbed hammer to minimize snagging, a beveled trigger for a smoother pull, and Novak Lo-Mount Carry sights with a drift-adjustable rear and dovetailed front. Each pistol is custom-tuned by Performance Center gunsmiths and marked with the center’s distinctive logo. Distributed exclusively by Lew Horton Distributing Co., the Shorty Forty was released in three limited production runs (500 units each) in 1992, 1993, and 1995.
