As the direct successor to the original Ruger Standard Model and Mark I, the Mark II incorporated several key improvements that enhanced its functionality, safety, and user-friendliness while retaining the classic aesthetic and blowback-operated design that made the series iconic. One of the most significant upgrades was the addition of a bolt hold-open feature, allowing the bolt to lock back after the final round—a critical feature missing in earlier models.
