Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING & PHENOMENAL single-action revolver for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt Single Action Army, 3rd Generation - "Screwless Frame Colt Show Gun"!
This example remains New Old Stock, showing no evidence of consumer use or handling whatsoever.
This example is PHENOMENALLY RARE & DESIRABLE due to the Screwless Frame, Colt Show Gun History, Hand-Fitted Elelphant Ivory Grips & Factory Engraved by the world-renowned Master Engraver John Adams Sr.
According to the included factory Colt letter, this exquisite revolver was shipped to John C. Keosayian in Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, on December 7, 2000. It is chambered in .44/40 and fitted with a 7½-inch barrel, showcasing a striking full blue finish paired with elegant one-piece elephant ivory grips (no longer offered by the Colt Custom Shop) adorned with gold Colt medallions. Factory engraved at the Class “D” Expert level by renowned master engraver John Adams Sr., the revolver features intricate scrollwork extending to the front sight and hammer. Adding to its exclusivity, this example was built with Colt’s distinctive screwless frame configuration, making it a remarkable showcase of artistry, craftsmanship, and technical refinement.
A factory “screwless-frame” version of the Colt Single Action Army is extremely rare. Documentation from reputable sources indicates that less than two dozen screwless-frame SAA revolvers were ever produced by Colt’s Manufacturing Company, and some specify that only about 100 screwless frames were ever manufactured. For a collector, this means such a variant commands significantly higher value and interest—far exceeding standard production models. When found, they are typically highly embellished and accompanied by Colt Custom Shop documentation. Ensuring authenticity, correct matching numbers, and original factory letter is critical given the premium and rarity. According to our research, there are no other examples currently available on the open market, making this an extraordinary opportunity for the advanced Colt collector. Don’t miss your chance to own this exceptional example, representing one of the rarest configurations ever produced in the storied lineage of the Colt Single Action Army.
The records further indicate that this exceptional revolver was utilized as a "Colt Show Gun" and was prominently displayed at the 2000 Colt Collectors Show in Reston, Virginia. Its role as a showpiece underscores the level of artistry and attention to detail invested by Colt, making it not only a functional firearm but also a collectible work of art. This provenance, combined with its master-level engraving, premium materials, and limited production, significantly enhances its desirability among collectors, offering both historical significance and a tangible connection to Colt’s legacy of craftsmanship.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Single Action Army, famously known as the “Peacemaker,” is one of the most celebrated revolvers in American firearms history, embodying the ruggedness and independence of the American frontier. First introduced in 1873 by Colt’s Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company, the Single Action Army was originally chambered in .45 Colt and designed as a reliable sidearm for the U.S. Army. Built on a solid steel frame with a six-shot cylinder, the revolver utilizes a single-action mechanism, requiring the hammer to be manually cocked before each shot. Early models featured a simple fixed front sight with a rear notch, ensuring durability and ease of use in field conditions. Over time, Colt produced the revolver in multiple barrel lengths, from compact 4.75-inch models to 7.5-inch “Artillery” versions, as well as in a range of calibers, allowing it to adapt to military, law enforcement, and civilian needs. Its combination of mechanical reliability, robust construction, and accurate performance quickly earned it a legendary status among soldiers, lawmen, and frontier settlers alike. The Colt Single Action Army has evolved through several distinct generations, each reflecting changes in design, manufacturing methods, and market demand. The First Generation (1873–1941) consisted of the original military and civilian models, noted for their hand-fitted parts, crisp action, and classic finishes. The Second Generation (1956–1974), produced after Colt’s factory reorganization, introduced modern materials and slight dimensional refinements while retaining the traditional appearance and single-action mechanics. The Third Generation (1976–present) saw a broader expansion into commemorative and custom models, including factory-engraved editions, varying calibers, and specialized finishes, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts. Each generation maintained the revolver’s iconic silhouette and single-action operation while improving consistency, durability, and aesthetic options. Today, the Colt Single Action Army remains not only a historically significant firearm but also a symbol of American heritage, with examples from every generation valued for their mechanical excellence, cultural importance, and collectible appeal.
