Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
In 1983, Remington introduced the Model Seven, a compact rifle often regarded as a scaled-down version of their popular Model 700 series and considered a successor to the discontinued Model 600. It quickly gained favor among riflemen for its lightweight and compact size, making it highly manageable in various hunting scenarios. The Model Seven became renowned for its affordability and practicality, appealing to a wide range of shooters. Among enthusiasts, the Lightweight LS Magnum variant stood out with its laminated stock and fixed sights, earning praise for its robust build and accuracy. Despite its acclaim, production of the Model Seven Lightweight LS Magnum was limited to the years 2002 through 2005, making it a sought-after piece among collectors today.
In 2002, Remington introduced the 7mm Short Action Ultra Magnum (SAUM) cartridge as a direct competitor to the 7mm Winchester Short Magnum (WSM). Designed specifically for the Remington Model Seven Magnum rifle, the 7mm SAUM was tailored for long-range hunting applications. It closely mirrors the ballistic performance of the 7mm WSM, with a negligible velocity difference of less than 50 feet per second, making them nearly ballistic twins. Both cartridges excel with bullet weights ranging from 120 to 160 grains, delivering optimal ballistic results suitable for a variety of hunting scenarios.
