Markings: The right rear of the receiver is marked “741 OF 1944”. The left side of the op rod is marked “D-DAY NORMANDY JUNE 6, 1944”. The right side of the stock is laser engraved with “soldiers storming Normandy’s beaches”. The left side is laser engraved “Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark on the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. General Dwight D. Eisenhower Supreme Commander Allied Expeditionary Force June 6, 1944” next to a “boot”, “rifle” & “helmet”.

These Rare Commemorative D-Day M1 Garand Rifles were offered by Springfield Armory in 2005. It was a limited run of 1,944. These are hard to come by and seldom seen on the market today!

The M1 Garand or M1 rifle is a semi-automatic rifle that was the service rifle of the U.S Army during World War II and the Korean War.
The rifle is chambered for the .30-06 Springfield cartridge and is named after its Canadian-American designer, John Garand. It was the first standard-issue autoloading rifle for the United States.By most accounts, the M1 rifle performed well. General George S. Patton called it "the greatest battle implement ever devised". The M1 replaced the bolt-action M1903 Springfield as the U.S.' service rifle in 1936, and was itself replaced by the selective-fire M14 rifle on March 26, 1958.
