Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 21-4 is a unique firearm that offers a great deal of customization options. The gun was designed during a time when functionality was the top priority, resulting in a firearm that allows owners to experiment with components and loads. As a result, it is not unusual for current owners of the gun to tinker with its various parts and ammunition for a better shooting experience. The gun originally was a reissue of Smith & Wesson's classic 1950 .44 Special revolvers, but the production run was short-lived. The Model 21 revolver's first production ended in the mid-1960s. However, decades later, in 2004, the defensive training academy Thunder Ranch urged Smith & Wesson to bring back the old machines and produce another batch. As a result, there are more Model 21 revolvers available now, and some of them have the TR logo on the side plate.

The gun comes straight from the factory with a six-shot cylinder, round butt, tapered barrel, and a rear pinch sight and half-moon front sight. It is built off Smith & Wesson’s classic N-frame, which is designed to withstand repeated firing of heavier loads. Overall, this gun is a no-nonsense piece of equipment that is perfect for those who take their shooting seriously. The Model 21-4 is equipped with a 4-inch barrel, which makes it an excellent option for carrying or using it for big-bore plinking. Although the .44 Magnum may sound intimidating, try not to get discouraged. It's the same caliber, but not the same load. The .44 Special is a comfortable and easy-to-use round.

However, it's worth noting that when people hear ".44," they usually think of the magnum load instead of the Special. This makes the .44 Special more of a niche option. Reloaders are often the ones who prefer this type of load. It's likely that many of those who admire this revolver are also the type who prefer not to use store-bought loads. The .44 Special was a revolutionary round when it was introduced in the late 19th century. It was one of the first smokeless powder rounds and was developed from the accurate black powder round, .44 Russian.

There is a lot of information and stories circulating among .44 Associates (fans of the .44 Special), cowboy enthusiasts, and powder manufacturers. The abundance of options can be overwhelming, making it difficult to start reloading. However, the Model 21-4 works well with both slow and heavy bullets, as well as light and medium velocity. If you want to limit your reloading calibers but not your options, the .44 special is a great choice.
