Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Chambered in .45 ACP, the Smith & Wesson Model 22-4 was introduced in October of 2005 as the "Thunder Ranch Special." It was built on a true square butt N-frame and features the internal lock system. Manufactured using the latest CNC-machined frame at the time, the revolver came equipped with a number of distinctive features. These include a 4-inch barrel with a pinned half-moon service front sight (notably wide) and a square notch rear sight, a six-shot fluted cylinder, a .400" checkered hammer, and a .312" trigger. It also has a shrouded extractor rod and a blue finish. The grips are checkered wood, adorned with the Thunder Ranch logo and a large diamond around the screw escutcheon. The revolver features a four-screw frame and is fitted with the older-style thumbpiece. The left side of the barrel is marked “.45 Cal Model 1950.” Each revolver was originally supplied with full moon clips and shipped in a green gun rug bearing the Thunder Ranch trademark, housed in a plain white box with an end label. These special edition revolvers had a unique serial number prefix of “TRR.” This version carried Product Code 161239 and was released in 2005. In 2007, the Model of 1950 was reintroduced with a 5½-inch barrel on a square butt frame with a lanyard ring. It was made available in blue, nickel, or color case finishes, all incorporating the internal lock system.
