Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this ABSOLUTELY STUNNING set of consecutive single-action revolvers for auction; these are the Colt Single Action Army!

According to the included factory letter, this set of Colt Single Action Army revolvers, bearing serial numbers S64284A & S64285A, was shipped to Dave's Gunsmithing, located on 2360 Highway 29 South in China Grove, North Carolina, on September 29, 2009. This documentation provides official provenance from Colt's archives, confirming the original destination and date of shipment for this revolver.

According to the owner, these Colt Single Action Army revolvers were purchased new from the Colt Custom Shop and remain in "New Old Stock" condition, having never been fired or had their cylinders turned. Upon inspection, there is no visible evidence to suggest otherwise, which supports the claim that these revolvers have been meticulously preserved in their original, unfired state.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Single Action Army (SAA), also known as the "Peacemaker," is one of the most iconic revolvers in American firearms history. Introduced in 1873, it became the standard-issue sidearm for the U.S. Army and played a defining role in the American West, serving lawmen, outlaws, soldiers, and settlers alike. Designed by Colt’s legendary engineer William Mason, the SAA features a robust single-action mechanism, a six-round cylinder, and a fixed firing pin on the hammer. Its design was simple, reliable, and durable—ideal for the rugged conditions of the frontier. The original models were chambered in .45 Colt, but over time, Colt offered the revolver in a wide variety of calibers, making it adaptable to various uses, from military service to civilian self-defense and sport shooting.

The Colt SAA has been produced in multiple generations, with each reflecting subtle refinements in craftsmanship, materials, and production techniques. First Generation models (1873–1941) are highly prized by collectors, while Second Generation (1956–1974) and Third Generation (1976–present) models remain popular among shooters and enthusiasts. Offered in various barrel lengths—4¾", 5½", and 7½" being the most common—the SAA is instantly recognizable for its clean lines, balanced handling, and timeless aesthetic. Whether configured in blued and case-hardened finishes or more ornate nickel or engraved versions, the Colt Single Action Army remains a symbol of American ingenuity and tradition. Today, it continues to captivate firearms collectors and cowboy action shooters alike, preserving the legacy of one of the most storied handguns ever made.
