Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
This meticulously crafted reproduction honors the legendary LeMat revolver, often celebrated as one of the most romantic firearms of the 19th century. Originally designed by Jean Alexandre LeMat of New Orleans and produced in Paris, France, and Birmingham, England, the LeMat quickly became the sidearm of choice for Confederate generals J.E.B. Stuart and P.G.T. Beauregard. Its hallmark feature is the unique combination of a nine-shot .44-caliber revolver cylinder paired with a secondary .20-gauge smoothbore shotgun barrel mounted beneath the main barrel. The pivoting hammer nose allows the shooter to seamlessly switch between revolver and shotgun fire. The Cavalry model is equipped with checkered two-piece walnut grips, richly blued metal components, and a 6 3/4-inch octagonal rifled barrel with seven lands and grooves.

It fires #10 or #11 percussion caps, features post front and hammer-grooved sights, and retains the original “Col. LeMat” barrel markings. Both the hammer and trigger are color case hardened, and the spurred trigger guard is complemented by a lanyard ring. For easy maintenance, the revolver can be disassembled using the lever-style takedown system to unscrew the entire barrel assembly. Made in Italy by Pietta, this reproduction faithfully captures the mechanical ingenuity, distinctive design, and historic character of the original LeMat revolver.
