Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 63 is a compact, double-action revolver chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed for target shooting, plinking, and small-game hunting. Originally built on the square-butt "J" target frame with a three-screw sideplate, it reflects classic Smith & Wesson craftsmanship and balance. Its 6-shot fluted cylinder has a nominal length of 1.44", optimized for the .22 LR cartridge. Finished in stainless steel, the revolver includes a smooth .312" combat trigger and a .375" semi-target hammer, both in matching stainless. Introduced as part of the revered Kit Gun series, the Model 63 is crafted from stainless steel, offering both corrosion resistance and a sleek, utilitarian appearance. Its 4-inch barrel provides excellent balance and improved sight radius, a serrated ramp front sight paired with an adjustable rear sight ensures quick target acquisition and fine-tuned accuracy—making it particularly well-suited for plinking, small game hunting, or use as a trail companion. The first 100 revolvers, serial numbered M101699 to M101798, were produced as a pilot lot, with full production beginning at serial number M103577. Production ran from 1977 to 1998 before being discontinued, but the Model 63 was reintroduced in 2007 with significant updates.
