The Colt 1911 WWI Reintroduction 100th Anniversary "Employee Edition" was a limited-edition pistol purchased by Colt employees through their employee purchase program. Only 150 were produced, making them quite rare!
This example is part of a Four Piece Colt 1911 "100 Years of Service" Set that is currently up for bid. U.S.A.,” and behind the serrations with a rampant colt logo. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATED PROPERTY." The right side of the slide is marked “MODEL OF 1911-2011” in Gold. Both sides of the frame and slide is engraved with scroll artwork.

The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985 through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as reliable handguns with plenty of stopping power and are held in high regard by those who have used them. The design was the end result of a series of developments by famous gun designer John Browning, starting with the Model 1900. The advances made by Browning were revolutionary at the time and were so successful that they are considered commonplace today.
Browning not only developed first a pivoting and then a tilting barrel to allow for a locked system, but he also developed the concept of “the slide”, which is now synonymous with semi-automatic handguns. Having secured a contract for the US Military sidearm, Colt also offered the pistol to the commercial market as the “Government Model”. This is a WWI Replica 100-year anniversary Colt commercial Government Model.
This Colt pistol is a faithful reproduction of a Colt M1911 pistol produced during WWI and is NOT equipped with a firing pin safety mechanism (which is found in all Colts manufactured since the mid-1980s). If this firearm is carelessly or improperly handled, unintentional discharge could result and could cause injury, death, or damage to property.

This example will ship with the matching factory-labeled outer sleeve, a Colt Custom Shop box, a cardboard gun box (reintroduction of the military packaging used to ship military Colt 1911s from the factory), one extra magazine, a lock, and paperwork! The owner states that this example remains New Old Stock and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise!
