There is currently an increasing demand for self-defense handguns. However, the most popular type of handgun in demand is the smallest and lightest available, which unfortunately has some drawbacks. These guns are usually difficult to shoot accurately, have limited stopping power, and can be problematic when it comes to recoil. If you can't hit or stop your target, the handgun is not very useful. Dan Wesson completely understands these concerns, that's why they wanted to provide their customers with the smallest, lightest gun possible without compromising on accuracy, dependability, and stopping power.
Introducing the ECO - a single stack officer size 1911 that weighs only 25 oz. In the past, officer 1911s have been criticized for their reliability, but we've addressed this issue by incorporating the latest technology and utilizing our expertise in overcoming challenges. This gun features all of Dan Wesson's most advanced and innovative features.
The ECO model comes with tritium night sights featuring a tactical ledge sight on the rear of the lightweight 3.5” slide. It has a flush-cut ramped bull barrel with a target crown instead of the traditional barrel and barrel bushing. This makes the gun more compact and easier to disassemble. The recoil system of this 1911 model is unique, as it uses a solid, one-piece guide rod and a flat recoil spring that is rated for 15,000 rounds in .45 ACP, which is unheard of in a production 1911. Most 1911 dual recoil systems are designed for only 500 rounds. Additionally, this recoil system offers the advantage of a smooth slide, resulting in easier operation and less felt recoil.
The trigger pull of their 1911s is short and crisp, at around 4 lbs, which helps you achieve the accuracy you expect from a Dan Wesson. The frame is made of anodized aluminum and has an undercut trigger guard and 25 LPI checkering. The mainspring housing is also aluminum, with 25 LPI checkering and a rounded bottom corner that enhances concealability and shooting comfort. These features, along with the Ed Brown high ride grip safety and our new slim line DW carry G10 grips, help you hold onto the gun for faster follow-up shots and better recoil control. Like the Guardian, the ECO slide and small parts are treated with a black Duty finish, and you can choose from both 9mm and .45 ACP calibers. You don't have to worry about stopping power.
