Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 1911 is widely considered one of the best combat pistols ever designed and the first successful self-loading pistol. John Browning, an American firearms inventor, created it. This pistol is the oldest service pistol in the world, still used in over 25 nations, and has been popular for over 100 years.
In 1983, the Colt Mark IV Series 80 was introduced with a new safety feature called the firing pin block system. This system made it impossible for the weapon to discharge if it was dropped or thrown on a hard surface. The new Colt Series 80 also included the new barrel bushing of the Series 70 and had a long trigger and flat mainspring housing, similar to the original M1911. The Series 80 became a huge success in commercial and military/law enforcement markets and quickly replaced the Series 70. The design was adopted by almost every other manufacturer of 1911, making almost all 1911s being sold on the market, regardless of manufacturer, traceable to a Series 80 design. Although the Series 70 has been making a comeback, most 1911s sold today are still a Series 80 variant.

Brian started his career in engraving in 1980 after being inspired by the works of Ken Hurst. He learned to draw under the instruction of Eric Gold and further studied with Statino Liken Tituter, Johny Weyerts, and Lee Griffiths. In 2009, he was certified as a "Master Engraver" by The Firearms Engravers Guild of America. Brian uses a traditional hammer and chisel, push engraving, acid-etching, and pneumatic Graver Max technology in his work. He specializes in engraving firearms, musical instruments, knives, and jewelry. Brian's work gained national attention when he engraved a Colt and presented it to President George Bush. TALO Distributors is proud to collaborate with Brian to produce this distinctly American work.
