The first Colt Gold Cup pistol was introduced in the late 1950s to give competitive shooters a gun to take directly from the dealer’s shelf to the firing line. It featured an adjustable wide trigger, hand-honed action, adjustable target sights, flat grooved top rib on the slide, and many other refinements as standard. Today, the Colt Gold Cup is known as the finest shooting automatic in the world and is the standard for competition guns.
In the late 1990s, Colt became TALO's first limited edition partner. With the help of the factory, TALO editions have gained popularity among a wide range of Colt collectors. The Gold Cup Elite is labeled as "Limited Edition - One of 500" and features a unique serial number starting at GCT50000. The gun boasts several features including Marine Style Wide Rear Slide Serrations, Gold Cup Wide Trigger, Upswept Beavertail, Beveled Mag well, Enhanced trigger guard cut, and Gold Cup Elite Rollmark on the left side.
