Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 12-gauge Remington 870 DM belongs to the esteemed Remington 870 lineage of pump-action shotguns, renowned for their widespread popularity and enduring reliability with over 13 million units produced globally. Originating decades ago, the 870 series has evolved into nearly 30 distinct models, each tailored for various applications. Among them, the 18 1/2” barrel 870 DM offers five variants: the 870 DM Tactical, 870 DM Hardwood, 870 DM Predator, 870 DM Magpul, and the base 870 DM. All variants support both 2 ¾” and 3” shells, boasting an overall length of 38.5” and weighing 7.5 pounds. Equipped with a 6-round detachable box magazine, they provide a 6+1 capacity, ensuring ample firepower in dynamic situations.
The 870 DM features a trigger guard with dual safety mechanisms—a front action-bar safety release and rear fire safety—while the magazine release sits conveniently just ahead of the beveled magazine well. Each variant offers unique specifications beyond these fundamentals. The base 870 DM model stands out as the most economical within this lineup. It sports a bead front sight, a matte black synthetic stock, and a black receiver finish. Designed for practicality, it includes a tactical forend and a SuperCell recoil pad at the rear, engineered to minimize felt recoil. The cylinder bore barrel enhances versatility, while the lightly textured grip sides ensure a secure hold in any conditions.
