According to the Colt Custom Shop letter, this revolver features a specially requested 5-inch barrel length and a Patridge front sight with a brass bead, both custom specifications. Additionally, the letter confirms that this example was shipped on June 1, 2022, to Garrettsville, Ohio.
The owner states that this example remains New Old Stock, and we see no evidence to indicate otherwise.

The Colt Anaconda, first introduced in 1990, marked Colt’s return to the large-frame double-action revolver market after a nearly 50-year absence following the discontinuation of the New Service in 1942. Built from stainless steel and designed around the successful King Cobra platform, the Anaconda was engineered for the heavy recoil and sustained use of .44 Magnum ammunition. It featured a massive forged frame and heat-treated cylinder, ensuring maximum durability. While most Anacondas were produced with 4-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch barrels, a 5-inch version—such as this particular model—was rare and not included in Colt’s official catalog. Some variations also featured Mag-Na-Porting to help manage recoil. The revolver’s markings varied slightly between models, with some barrels stamped "Double Action Revolver", while others bore the inscription ".44 Magnum Cartridge" along with Colt’s P.T.F.A. Mfg Co. Hartford Conn. USA. Colt offered the Anaconda in multiple finishes, including satin stainless, bright polished stainless, and even Realtree camouflage on select special editions. Production ran until 1999, with a brief reintroduction from 2002 to 2006 as a Colt Custom Shop special-order firearm.
