The CZ 457 Varmint, the standard heavy-barreled variant of the 457 series, is built for precision and versatility. Its .866" cylindrical barrel not only offers excellent harmonic stability but also ensures consistent performance across a wide variety of rimfire loads—making it equally effective for target shooting and small game hunting. The Turkish walnut stock features an American-style comb, ideal for scoped shooting, and a wide, flat forend that sits solidly on a sandbag for benchrest accuracy. Laser-cut stippling provides a secure grip in both the fore and aft sections, giving the rifle a refined yet functional aesthetic.

Recognizing feedback from Hunter’s Education instructors and 4-H shooting coaches, CZ addressed a long-standing request with the introduction of an American-style, receiver-mounted push-to-fire safety. This was just one of several thoughtful updates incorporated into the 457 platform. CZ shortened and slab-sided the action to reduce both its length and overall weight, enhancing balance and handling. The older 455’s stamped bottom metal was replaced with a sleek two-piece interlocking design, and the bolt throw was reduced from 90° to 60°, making room for larger scope bells with lower ring heights. The 457 also features an adjustable trigger, allowing users to fine-tune weight, creep, and over-travel to their preference. With the same barrel-swapping system and reliable polymer magazine as the 455, the 457 Varmint stands out as the most refined and capable rimfire rifle CZ has ever offered.
