The lower receiver features a generously flared magazine well for smooth and fast reloads, while strategically placed venting holes in the upper receiver, barrel extension, and bolt carrier safely direct excess gas away from the shooter for enhanced comfort and reliability. Accuracy is enhanced by a 15" free-floating aluminum handguard, outfitted with Magpul M-LOK slots and a full-length picatinny top rail, providing ample space for customization. Integrated QD sling swivel sockets at the muzzle end offer comfortable two-point sling carry, while the Magpul MOE SL stock and MOE grip deliver excellent ergonomics and control. Internally, the bolt and barrel extensions are CNC-machined from high-strength super alloy steel, outperforming traditional C158 bolts and featuring tapered lug geometry for superior breech strength. The chrome-lined steel bolt carrier and nitride-treated gas key are designed for durability, while the DLC-coated titanium firing pin ensures long service life. The dual ejectors and optimized extractor, paired with an enlarged ejection port, provide consistent, positive case ejection. The SFAR also supports broad customization, being compatible with most mil-spec MSR trigger groups, receiver end plates, charging handles, grips, and stocks. At its core, the cold hammer-forged chrome-moly steel barrel features ultra-precise 5R rifling for outstanding accuracy, a balanced heavy profile, and a sleek black nitride finish that enhances longevity and simplifies cleaning. A Ruger 2-port Boomer muzzle brake, with 5/8"-24 threads, effectively reduces felt recoil and remains compatible with a variety of muzzle devices, including suppressors.
The rifle-length gas system is tuned by a 0.750" 4-position rotary-regulator gas block, allowing shooters to fine-tune performance across a wide range of ammunition, with a 3/16" ball-end wrench included onboard for easy adjustments. Rounding out the package is the Ruger Elite 452 trigger, delivering a crisp, two-stage 4.5-pound pull, supported by a full-strength hammer spring and lightweight hammer for fast lock times and reliable ignition. The SFAR blends compact form with powerful function, making it a high-performance rifle for both tactical and precision shooting applications.
