The Uberti / Taylor’s & Company 1862 Police revolver is a faithful reproduction of Colt’s final and most refined percussion pocket revolver, introduced during the Civil War and designed for civilian, police, and detective use. Built on the lightweight 1849 Pocket frame but chambered in the more powerful .36 caliber, the 1862 Police offered a superior balance of portability and firepower in a slim, concealable package. Unlike other Colt models of the era, the 1862 Police was exclusively manufactured with a five-shot fluted cylinder, a distinctive feature that reduced weight and gave the revolver a more streamlined, modern appearance. Uberti’s reproduction honors this design with a round barrel offered in lengths of 4.5", 5.5", or 6.5", paired with a creeping-style loading lever and an open-top frame.
