The ARCUS-98DAC is a DA/SA semi-automatic pistol with advanced ergonomic design and compact dimensions. The pistol features increased safety due to the combination of manual safety and automatic safety of the firing pin. It is adopted for service in the Bulgarian army and police. The slide and frame are made of forged steel milled to precise measurements using computerized CNC equipment. It features an improved double-action, down-turned beavertail to eliminate "hammer bite", 3-dot combat style sights, and accepts Browning Hi-Power mags & parts.

The Bulgarian company ARCUS, established 45 years ago, manufactures a wide range of automotive components, including shock absorbers, as well as machine tools and exercise equipment. They have the capability to cast non-ferrous and iron ingots in their foundries. Initially, the company started as a defense contractor, supplying fuses for artillery shells and aircraft bombs, as well as manufacturing shoulder-fired low-velocity grenade launchers and handguns, including the Model 94 pistols. The Model 94 is based on the single-action Belgian FN Hi-Power pistol but features some modern design elements. Century Arms was the original importer of this pistol, but importation to the U.S. ceased around 2007. The U.S. now has the model 98DA, which has a double action first shot firing capability. There is also a compact version of the pistol, the model 98DAC, with a shorter 4” barrel and frame. Despite being imported into the U.S. by Century Arms, these pistols are not widely recognized in the country as high-value, low-cost service pistols.
