Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 45-year-old Bulgarian company ARCUS produces a diverse range of automotive components, including shock absorbers, as well as machine tools and exercise equipment. Their foundries are capable of casting both non-ferrous and iron ingots. Originally established as a defense contractor, ARCUS supplies fuses for artillery shells, aircraft bombs, and 40mm grenades, and manufactures both shoulder-fired low-velocity grenade launchers and handguns. They produce the Model 94 pistols, which are essentially copies of the single-action Belgian FN Hi-Power, incorporating some modern design elements. This pistol matches the length, height, and width of the P-35, with grips, magazines, and most internal parts being interchangeable. Century Arms previously served as the importer, but while production continues, importation seems to have ceased around 2007. In the U.S., the Model 94 has been replaced by the Model 98DA, which, as indicated by its suffix, features double-action capability for the first shot.

There is also a “compact” version, the 98DAC, which has a shorter 4” barrel and frame, using the standard 13-round magazine and the same butt length as the P-35. These pistols are imported into the U.S. by Century Arms and are marketed as high-value, low-cost service pistols.
