The TOZ-8-01 is an updated variant of the original TOZ-8 training rifle, a design created by D. M. Kochetov in 1932 and used extensively for decades to teach marksmanship to Soviet military recruits, cadets, and youth shooting clubs. This example, serial number 15277, reflects the later production era of the improved “-01” pattern, which emerged in the mid- to late-1970s.
