The Baker Gun Co.'s Batavia Special is a classic American-made, hammerless sidelock double-barrel shotgun produced in Batavia, New York, between approximately 1906 and 1916. Built by the reputable Baker Gun & Forging Company—founded in the 1890s and later absorbed by Crescent and H. & D. Folsom—the Batavia Special occupied the middle tier of their catalog: positioned above the entry-level Batavia Leader yet more modest than fully embellished side-lock designs.
