Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Beretta 92 series has been in production since 1976, but gained popularity in the US in 1985 as the M9 for the armed forces. The first model had a frame-mounted safety and heel-mounted magazine catch, which were later changed to a slide-mounted safety and thumb-activated magazine release button. The design underwent many small changes over the years, resulting in the popular 92FS. Beretta also produced many limited-production variants with unique features. The 92G, requested by the French national police, has no manual safety. It was initially only available for government contracts, but later produced for the commercial market. The Beretta 92G Compact L Type M uses a specific frame that has a smaller grip that only accepts a single stack magazine that is specific to the Beretta 92G Compact L Type M.
