Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Armi Beretta SpA of Gardone Val Trompia boasts a rich history in firearms manufacturing that dates back to 1526, when it was established as a barrel maker. However, it wasn't until 1915, in response to the military needs during World War I, that Beretta produced its first pistol, the Model 1915. Over the years, Beretta has grown to become one of the world's largest manufacturers of handguns, with the Model 1934 (M1934) being their most prolific product during World War II. The M1934 was specifically designed for the Italian armed forces. In the early 1930s, the Italian Army took notice of the Walther PP pistol, prompting Beretta to innovate to secure a significant military contract. The M1934 was accepted by the Italian Army in 1937 and featured a robust design that met military specifications. Following the M1934, Beretta introduced the M1935, which retained many of the M1934's features but was chambered for the .32 ACP (7.65 mm Browning) cartridge. The M1935 is a single-action, semi-automatic blowback pistol that fires .32 ACP ammunition. It is constructed from carbon steel with plastic grips and features a frame safety that also acts as a takedown lever and slide hold-open. When the last round is fired, the slide remains open, retained by the empty magazine, and must be held open manually by the safety lever to facilitate reloading. With a magazine capacity of 8 rounds, the M1935 was notable for its interchangeable parts, simplifying maintenance and manufacturing—a significant innovation for its time.
