The Beretta S57 was part of a trio of over-under shotguns introduced in 1955, alongside the S55 (Silver Snipe) and S56 (Golden Snipe), collectively known as the "Snipe" series. These models were designed to offer a more affordable alternative to Beretta’s high-end ASEs and S1 sidelocks by incorporating mass-production techniques while retaining many of the quality features found in their premium counterparts. Lighter and less expensive than competing over-unders like the Browning Superposed, the S55, S56, and S57 delivered impressive value, making them highly competitive in the market.
