The Calico M-100P in .22 LR is one of the most unconventional rimfire pistols ever produced, famous for its futuristic styling, unique helical-magazine system, and remarkably high ammunition capacity. Designed in the late 1980s, the M-100P uses a top-mounted, 100-round helical drum magazine that feeds cartridges forward through a spiral track, allowing an enormous reserve of .22 LR ammunition without drastically increasing the pistol’s overall length. This magazine sits along the top of the gun like a compact cylinder, giving the M-100P its distinctive profile and shifting the balance point upward and forward in a way that feels unusual at first but surprisingly stable once the shooter becomes accustomed to it. The pistol’s polymer-and-alloy construction keeps weight manageable despite the large magazine, and its roller-delayed blowback-style operating system helps ensure smooth cycling, even when the drum is fully loaded.
