Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Bulldog is a double-action revolver designed by Doug McClenahan and manufactured by Charter Arms. It was first introduced in 1973 and has been produced in both .44 Special and .357 Magnum calibers. The Bulldog was a top-selling firearm during the 1980s and it remains Charter Arms' signature weapon. The name “Bulldog” was an homage to the original Webley revolvers of the same name.
The Bulldog, a firearm designed by Doug McClenahan, the founder of the first version of Charter Arms, was introduced in 1973. It quickly gained popularity and became one of the best-selling weapons in the United States during the 1970s and 1980s. The modern design and execution of the Bulldog drew attention from the gun press and combat shooters. In fact, by the mid-1980s, over half a million units had been produced, with almost 37,000 being manufactured annually. However, Bulldog production has been halted a few times since 1992, when Charter Arms, the original manufacturer, declared bankruptcy. It has been produced by four different companies since its initial release.
