Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 2nd generation Colt 1860 Army revolver, produced by Colt's Manufacturing Company in the 1970s, is a modern reproduction of the original 1860 Army, which was one of the most iconic and widely used black powder revolvers of the American Civil War. As part of Colt's effort to commemorate the legacy of their historic firearms, the 2nd generation 1860 Army revolvers were designed to closely resemble the original models, while incorporating some modern manufacturing processes and finishes. These revolvers feature a full-size, steel frame with a 8-inch barrel, a brass trigger guard, and the signature one-piece walnut grips. The 2nd generation versions were produced with attention to detail, capturing the look and feel of the original 1860 Army, yet offering a more refined and durable construction. Available in .44 caliber, these revolvers were popular among collectors, enthusiasts, and shooters alike, offering both historical significance and modern reliability. Additionally, Colt's 2nd generation models often featured unique finishes and special editions, such as engraved versions, gold or silver-plated accents, and even presentation cases. While the 1860 Army was primarily a military sidearm in its time, the 2nd generation models were designed to celebrate and preserve the iconic revolver's legacy, making them a sought-after piece for firearm collectors and history buffs alike.

The 1979 Colt 1860 Army Interstate Blackpowder Special Edition revolvers, with serial numbers 202131 and 202132, represent a rare and highly collectible iteration of the iconic 1860 Army. Finished in antique gold and silver, these revolvers were part of a limited run of only 200 units, further enhancing their desirability among collectors. Shipped to Interstate Distributing Company in Little Rock, Arkansas, under Colt factory order #10976, this special edition was designed with various customization options to cater to the tastes of discerning collectors. Options included consecutively numbered sets, presentation cases, shoulder stocks, and a three-piece accessory set that featured a bullet mold, nipple wrench, and cap can, making the edition a true collector’s piece. The antique gold and silver finishes, combined with the roll-engraved naval battle scenes on both cylinders, provide a luxurious and visually stunning appearance that stands out among other revolvers. The smooth, one-piece walnut stocks, 8-inch barrel, and fixed sights remain true to the original design of the 1860 Army, while the unique finish and added details make this particular model highly sought after in the firearms community. The Colt 1860 Army Interstate Blackpowder Special Edition stands as a testament to Colt's commitment to producing fine, historically significant firearms that blend craftsmanship with modern appeal.
