The Aztecs, also called Mexicas, emerged in the 14th century when they freed themselves from their former masters, the Azcapotzalcos. It is said that when the Spaniards arrived in the early 16th century, the Aztecs ruled over 370 small city-states that paid tribute in good to Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec empire.
The Colt Aztec series are .38 Super Government Models that features a bright stainless and a royal blue finishes. The slide on this example is royal blue and deep etched with a variety of mythological deities. The design is further highlighted by selective 24k gold plating and a serpentine Colt logo in each rear slide panel. Colt factory serial numbers are AZT001-AZT500. The flats of the frame are bright polished. The controls and hammer are royal blue. The pistol features gold plated hex style grip screws. The grips are unique black pearlite grips etched with an Aztec theme top and bottom and centered by a rampant colt gold inlay. Each pistol includes a numbered, Aztec theme etched Columbia River Knife and Tool stainless folding knife.
