Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 1911 is a historic single-action, semi-automatic pistol fed by a magazine and powered by the potent .45 ACP cartridge, once the standard issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. The Colt 1991, a direct descendant of the military M1911, retains key features such as a long trigger, flat mainspring housing, and recoil spring system, while introducing upgrades like 3-dot white sights and a modified grip safety and ejection port from the original Mil-Spec design. Introduced in 1991 to meet the demand for a high-quality, Mil-Spec style 1911 amidst a flooded custom pistol market, the Colt Model 1991 remains faithful to its roots. Combining the classic look of a G.I. model with modern user-friendly features found in today's combat handguns, it bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary 1911 pistols. Crafted from advanced CNC machined high-grade steel with a deep blued finish, it features a Series '80 safety to prevent accidental discharges, maintaining one of the best factory triggers among standard 1911 models. Ergonomically designed with a slim, single-stack grip and a lowered ejection port for enhanced reliability, it also includes a long hammer spur and an extended grip safety tang to prevent hammer bite. The Colt 1991 operates smoothly with a snug slide-to-frame fit that honors the original 1911 design's functional clearance for debris, setting it apart in today's competitive firearms market.
This Colt Model 1991A1 Series 80 in .45 ACP features a custom nickel finish and a 5-inch barrel. It comes equipped with fixed optics/sights and includes figured wood panels for grips, with the right side panel showing a visible crack along the top screw, documented in pictures 21-24. The pistol is adorned with American style scroll engravings covering more than 50% of its surface, adding to its distinctive appearance and craftsmanship.
