Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
If it is possible for a firearm to embody the American story, then this is the pistol. "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land" is famously inscribed on the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, and originally comes from Leviticus 25:10. The same fervor for freedom the Israelites felt after their exodus from Egypt is what the Colonials took to heart during the fight for independence from England during the Revolutionary War. "Give me liberty or give me death" were the words uttered by Patrick Henry in his closing statement at the Second Virginia Convention on March 23rd, 1775 in what is now called St. John's Church. His argument for the establishment of a militia was met with unease, as his opponents wanted to wait for a response from the crown before reacting. As history shows, the creation of a militia directly affected the outcome of the conflict. "E Pluribus Unum" translated from Latin means "Out of one, Many." From the many levels of meaning, a notable one is the idea of separate states joining to form a cohesive nation. This phrase, however, can be interpreted on many more levels, both personal and grandiose. Out of many individuals, one community. Out of many ideas, one school of thought.
