The standout feature is the dramatic, deeply engraved depiction of the iconic Marine Corps flag-raising at Iwo Jima, carefully etched on the stainless steel slide. With only 300 of these firearms in existence, the Colt Iwo Jima .45 Government is not only a functional weapon but also a collector’s item, blending fine artistry, history, and precision engineering.

The standout feature is the dramatic, deeply engraved and polished depiction of the iconic Marine Corps flag-raising at Iwo Jima, carefully etched on the stainless steel slide. The engraving commemorates the fight for Iwo Jima in 1945, one of the bloodiest battles of World War II. A small island in the Pacific dominated by a volcanic mountain and pockmarked with caves, Iwo Jima became the setting for a brutal five-week battle between 70,000 American Marines and an unknown number of deeply entrenched Japanese defenders. The courage and gallantry of the American forces, climaxed by the dramatic raising of the American flag over Mt. Suribachi, is memorialized in the Marine Corps monument in Washington, D.C.
