The Colt / Talo Distributors Exclusive Government Series 70 “Glahn Special Edition” draws inspiration from one of Glahn's iconic Colt pistols, incorporating several elements from his signature style while retaining key period trademarks. This Colt Government “Glahn Special Edition” slide is meticulously adorned in a Glahn-style pattern and border, then bead-blasted and antiqued for an authentic look. The frame features Glahn-inspired etching, with a rebrush-polished and antiqued finish to match. Both the slide stop and thumb safety are brush-polished to complement the overall design. The grips are made from a unique, fancy checkered ivory-lite material designed to evoke the period-specific grips of Glahn’s time, with an updated twist—incorporating the serpentine Colt logo for a modern touch.
These pistols featured special serial numbers ranging from 1070A1T001 to 1070A1T300. This particular example bears the serial number 1070A1T219, which makes it number 219 out of the 300 produced.
According to the owner, this example is in Excellent New-Old-Stock Unfired condition and we see no evidence that indicates otherwise!

Wilbur A. Glahn (1888–1951), a renowned Colt factory engraver, represented the final chapter in a family legacy of German engravers who played a significant role in shaping America's appreciation for beautifully embellished firearms. His exceptional craftsmanship set a high benchmark for future engraving artists and left an indelible mark on the world of fine firearms. Glahn worked on numerous special projects for Colt up until 1950, including engraving a pair of ornate .45 autos for General Douglas MacArthur. In fact, MacArthur delayed the invasion of the Philippines until he had received the custom firearms. Among his many other notable works, Glahn also engraved two High Standard pistols for baseball legend Ted Williams and crafted a custom shotgun for the King of Greece.
