Crescent Fire Arms Company was organized in 1892 in Norwich, CN from the remains of the old Bacon Arms Company. In 1893 it was sold to the H&D Folsom Company of New York City, a large wholesale sporting goods dealer retailer and gun jobber who owned the company until late 1930 when they sold it to a subsidiary of the Savage Arms Company. H&D bought Crescent to supply them with inexpensive shotguns. Whatever Folsom wanted, Crescent made and what they wanted was a lot of inexpensive shotguns fast. Crescent made them, making over 2.500.000 shotguns in twenty-five years (1892 to 1935) of operation. Crescent Fire Arms Company was the biggest maker ever of "Trade Brand Name" shotguns, shotguns made by a major maker for and sold by wholesale sporting goods dealers, retail chain stores and independent sellers.
