Dakota joined with Nesika Bay Precision Inc., which builds ultra-accurate varmint, hunting, and benchrest rifles, also for considerable sums, though not so high as those of Dakota. While Dakotas are blued steel and fine walnut, Nesikas are stainless steel and synthetic or laminated stocks. The two companies joined forces to produce firearms under the name of Dakota Varmint Rifles. It is a specialized line made from Nesika actions, Dakota stocks, and Lilja barrels (which are button-rifled, stainless-steel world-beaters made by Montanan Dan Lilja.
Crafted to benchrest tolerances the Varminter is built from the ground up on a single shot, small round action to forever elevate the standards for precision in the small-caliber world. And its supreme accuracy is second only to its elegant lines and fit and finish that make Dakota firearms among the most sought-after in the world. It’s built with a precision stainless match-grade barrel in either sporter or varmint contours.
Dakota has long been synonymous with great wood, and this Predator is cloaked in a very nice piece of Claro walnut. It is a heavy-varmint configuration, with a thick, sloping Monte Carlo comb and no cheekpiece, and a wide, flat fore-end well suited to shooting from a rest. The barrel is completely free floating.
