E.R. Amantino (also known as Boito) is a Brazilian firearms manufacturer founded in 1955 in the city of Veranópolis in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The company is well known for its double-barrelled shotguns marketed and distributed in the United States under the Stoeger brand. The company was founded and named after João Boito, an Italian blacksmith living in Brazil who used to manufacture handmade shotguns among his other works. During the 1950s, Boito met Elias Ruas Amantino, a local businessman who proposed a special partnership to establish the E.R. Amantino & Cia Ltda., a local company focused on manufacturing single and double barreled shotguns for hunting purposes. In 1962, the company released their first coach gun model. In 1977, the company founded its subsidiary Microvera, a metal processing and micro fusion specialized plant in charge of producing parts for Boito's shotguns and custom parts for other guns on the South American market. Stoeger Industries is a manufacturer and importer of firearms into the United States. The company's Stoeger Publishing division also publishes books and videos about firearms, hunting and fishing. Stoeger Industries' headquarters are in Accokeek, Maryland, United States. Stoeger is a wholly owned subsidiary of Benelli USA, which in turn is owned by Italian firearms conglomerate Beretta Holding S.A. Besides marketing a line of tactical and hunting shotguns as well as air rifles, Stoeger also serves as an FFL for importing firearms by Uberti, also a member of the Benelli/Beretta group. Because of the significant corporate interrelationships, the actual country of manufacturing origin of Stoeger firearms varies based on both the specific model and the year of its manufacture. Current Stoeger firearms have their manufacturing origins in countries such as Brazil, Italy, Turkey, and the United States.
