Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The HK-91 traces its lineage back to the early 1950s when German and Spanish engineers collaborated on the development of the CETME Model A, which briefly served as the standard-issue rifle for the German armed forces. This collaboration led to refinements resulting in the CETME Model B and later the Model C, ultimately becoming the "Gewehr 3" (Rifle - Model 3), or G3, when it was adopted by the German military. Early G3 models featured a flip-up rear sight, similar to those on CETME rifles, while later iterations included the now-standard drum-style rear sight found on nearly all Heckler & Koch rifles and submachine guns, along with plastic handguards and telescoping stocks. Unlike many modern rifles, the G3 was designed as a select-fire automatic rifle. The G3 design gave rise to an entire family of firearms, including the iconic MP5 submachine gun. In response to civilian demand and law enforcement needs for a semi-automatic rifle, HK introduced the model 91, a semi-automatic variant of the G3.

The Federal Arms Corp FA91 is a semi-automatic rifle that is a clone of the Heckler & Koch HK-91, which itself is a variant of the G3 battle rifle. Chambered in .308 Winchester, the FA91 is designed for both civilian shooting and tactical applications. Constructed using surplus G3 parts kits, the FA91 is built on a U.S.-made cast aluminum receiver, which contributes to its durability while keeping the weight manageable. The rifle typically features a 20-round detachable box magazine and is equipped with a textured black finish. Notable for its versatility, the FA91 includes a Weaver rail on the top of the receiver for mounting optics, enhancing its accuracy and usability. Its synthetic components, including the stock and handguard, provide durability and comfort. The FA91 appeals to firearm enthusiasts looking for a reliable and robust semi-automatic rifle that retains the classic styling and functionality of its military predecessors.
