Argentina began producing the FM Hi-Power in the early 1960s after initially acquiring Belgian-made Hi-Powers for its military and national police forces. These pistols were built at the Fabrica Armas Portatiles Domingo F. Matheu in Rosario, under the supervision of FN inspectors to maintain strict quality control. The FM Hi-Power closely followed the design of the MkII 1965 version, featuring an improved finish and upgraded military specifications. Unlike earlier Hi-Powers, the MkII variant introduced a more robust construction and enhanced sights for better accuracy. While many Hi-Power clones exist, FM’s production remains one of the few true licensed models, ensuring full compatibility with standard BHP parts. Its single-action operation, high-capacity magazine, and proven reliability have solidified its reputation as one of the most widely used and respected handguns in the world.
