Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The FN/Browning "Trombone" .22 Pump Action Repeater is a finely crafted rimfire rifle built on a classic John Browning design, known for its smooth action and elegant styling. Chambered in .22 Long Rifle, this rifle features a 22-inch round barrel, blued finish, and traditional bead-blade front sight with an adjustable rear sight for precise target shooting. Originally manufactured by Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Belgium between 1922 and 1974, the Trombone was part of a cooperative design lineage shared with Remington, whose similar Model 12 and 121 rifles were popular in the U.S. market. Due to an agreement between FN and Remington, the Trombone was not widely exported to the United States, making surviving examples in this country relatively rare and often Canadian imports.

True to its nickname, the "Trombone" features a distinctive pump-action mechanism where the magazine tube moves with the ribbed forearm, echoing the motion of a trombone slide. This design is not only mechanically unique but also incredibly smooth and satisfying to operate. The rifle is fitted with a smooth walnut stock, complete with a round knob pistol grip that enhances control and comfort, especially for younger or smaller-framed shooters. With about 150,000 units produced, the Trombone remains a sought-after collectible for fans of classic rimfire firearms and John Browning's enduring legacy. Its combination of craftsmanship, historical relevance, and mechanical charm makes it a standout in any rimfire collection.
