The FN 509 Tactical Semi-Auto Pistol is a purpose-driven evolution of the standard FN 509, originally developed as part of FN’s entry into the U.S. Army's Modular Handgun System (MHS) trials. Designed with tactical and personal defense applications in mind, the 509 Tactical incorporates a series of enhancements that elevate its capability beyond the standard duty pistol. Most notably, it features a ½" x 28 threaded barrel for suppressor compatibility, complete with a thread cap, and tall suppressor-height night sights that ensure a clear sight picture even with a suppressor attached. Its standout FN Low Profile Optics Mounting System allows direct mounting of many commercially available miniature red dot optics (MRDs) without the need for custom milling. The slide cap, when not using an optic, adds practical functionality by including protective raised wings around the rear sight and a textured ramp for one-handed slide manipulation against surfaces like belts or boot heels.
