Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Freedom Arms, based in Freedom, Wyoming, is renowned for manufacturing powerful single-action revolvers. Founded in 1978 by Wayne Baker and Dick Casull, the company initially produced the Mini-Revolver and later developed the Model 83, chambered in Casull's potent .454 Casull cartridge. This five-shot revolver set the standard for the brand. In addition to their revolvers, Freedom Arms also manufactures a single-shot pistol. Over the years, various variants of the Model 83 have been released, all featuring five-shot cylinders. The first variant, a .45 Colt, debuted in February 1986, with 54 examples sold between 1986 and 1989 (serial numbers E7201-E7254), followed closely by a .44 Magnum version. In 1991, they introduced the Model 252 in .22 Long Rifle, and in 1992, the Model 353 in .357 Magnum, including a 9-inch variation designed to meet the 4-pound maximum weight requirement for the IHMSA Silhouette competition. The Model 555 was introduced in 1993, followed by chamberings in .50 Action Express, .41 Magnum, and .475 Linebaugh in 1997 and 1999, respectively. In 2005, Freedom Arms unveiled its own .500 Wyoming Express with the Model 83 .500 WE, further expanding its impressive lineup.
